How does tattoo removal work?
To ensure your comfort, a topical anesthetic is first applied to the treatment areas, minimizing any pain. The Splendor X system then delivers controlled pulses of lasers to the skin, heating up the tattoo and breaking apart the ink particles.
The pigment is highly attracted to the laser energy, causing the ink to release from the skin and dissolve. There is a mild sensation of a rubber band snap; however, it is well tolerated by patients. Treatment and pulse durations of the picosecond lasers are quick.

Preparation for tattoo removal
Proper preparation for laser tattoo removal treatments is essential to achieving optimal results. You must arrive to your appointment with fresh skin, free of any topical products.
Prior to your appointment, do not apply:
- Moisturizer
- Sunscreen
- Oils
- Cologne
It is advised to shave the area before your appointment if there is excess hair. As you undergo your series of treatments, you will need to avoid any sun exposure on your tattoo areas for a minimum of 4 weeks and stop using any self-tanning products at least 2 weeks prior.

Recovery & aftercare
Blisters and scabs will form after removal of tattoos. It is essential to allow these wounds to heal naturally after every session and to avoid picking at your skin. This avoids the chance of scarring.
An antibiotic ointment along with gauze dressing will be applied to minimize the risk of infection. This needs to be kept on for a few days following your treatment and may only be removed to shower. Only mild soap should be used on the treatment area to avoid irritation.
